Panat Lab NEWS

It was a pleasure to give an invited talk at the Materials Science and Engineering Department in Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. My seminar was followed by insightful discussions with faculty members over lunch, and PhD students over dinner, along with a tour of the facilities. Grateful to Prof. Lakshmi for the invitation and hospitality. Special thanks to Amey for the tour and other help. Impressed with the excellent research in Lakshmi group and Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi’s MSE department. Also, a pleasant surprise meeting Prof. Nitin Padture on my flight to Delhi!

Panat lab received a multi-year GOALI research award from the CMMI division of NSF. The $640k award (#2328678) supports research on identifying the mass transport mechanism(s) and their relative contributions to shape distortion in sintering-based AM processes. The experimental portion of the research will consist of fabrication of 3-D structures of nano and/or microparticles, operando microscopy to observe movement of particle clusters in during sintering, and extensive ex-situ observations. Congratulations!

It was great attending a Digital Twin workshop at Stanford University in beautiful Palo Alto area! Wonderful to see industry interest in this topic that covers physics-based and data-based models for manufacturing processes.
